What is Classical Christian Education?

Classical Christian education follows the Trivium, a term simply meaning to remove barriers between subjects to make connections between them, because ultimately, all truth comes from God. By adapting the teaching method to each stage of development, the Trivium develops a knowledgeable, thinking, and articulate student. There are three stages represented in the Trivium: grammar (K5-6), logic (7-8), and rhetoric (9-12).

GRADES K5-6 - THE GRAMMAR STAGE

During the grammar phase, children are eager to memorize and  are challenged with facts that span all subjects from Bible to history, to science. Songs, chants, and rhymes are used to help children enjoy the experience, while retaining the information they learn. These years build a solid framework of knowledge that will serve them for life.

GRADES 7-8 - THE LOGIC STAGE

As your child approaches middle school, you may notice a new independence and the persistent question, "Why?" This point in your child's development is the perfect opportunity to train him in the art of civil discussion. By learning logic in the art of reason and debate, your child will know how to stand strong in the faith and engage others ina loving way

GRADES 9-12 - THE RHETORIC STAGE

Modern education methods tend to stay the same throughout a child's school years - memorize the information necessary to pass a test. In high school, students become concerned with what others think of them. This is a golden opportunity to infuse wisdom and eloquence, while knowing they are made in the image of God.
